We See You, United Nations!

June 15, 2008

While the topic of mass rape is not one I would usually consider for this sex positive blog, I am pleased to report that United Nations Security Council is holding a special session on sexual violence this Thursday. We encourage you to make up for lost time, UN, and recognize this as an important international issue deserving of significant attention and resources. For those who don’t know, some of my earliest and most intense official training in human sexuality was in the area of domestic violence response, which includes responding to sexual violence at the hands of intimate partners. I continue to offer sexual health and wellbeing workshops in domestic violence shelters, so sexualized violence is clearly an issues close to my heart and brain. Good job moving forward and making progress toward greater action in this area, UN. Don’t stop now.

Not-so-positive but very well done and important article by the New York Times – here
